The Illinois Consolidated Election on April 1st is a very important election. This will be the time when school districts will select school board members to help guide their local school districts. Spoon River Valley will have 3 positions up for election. These positions will be four year terms. Petitions are due to the county clerk’s office between November 12 and 18, 2024. If you have any questions about the elections or need a petition packet, those can all be directed to the Fulton County Clerk’s office in Lewistown as they are responsible for the election. The timelines have been revised so please pay attention to updated timelines if you are planning to be a candidate. If you have any questions on the responsibilities of a school board member, feel free to talk to any current board member or Mr. Janssen. Due to the fact we have three current board members from the Fairview township, we can not have anyone elected this election that lives in the Fairview township as state law limits school board members to a maximum of three per township.
Right now most of us are focused on the mid-term elections coming up next week. However, the Illinois Consolidated Election on April 4th is a very important election as well. This will be the time when school districts will select school board members to help guide their local school districts. Spoon River Valley will have 5 positions up for election. One position will be a partial two year term, and 4 positions will be full four year terms. When candidates submit their petitions they will need to declare if they want on the ballot for the two year term or a four year term. Petitions are due to the county clerk’s office between December 12 and 19, 2022. If you have any questions about the elections or need a petition packet, those can all be directed to the Fulton County Clerk’s office in Lewistown as they are responsible for the election.
