Well, those of you that keep up with what is going on in our lives here lately know I/we have had a turn of bad luck here the last 6 weeks or so. It’s a pile of bad luck. It’s included everything from replacing a truck we really liked to relocating cows to five hours away as just a few of the issues we’ve dealt with recently.
Some of the frustrations in this stretch of bad luck is the fact that some of this “luck” has been caused by someone interjecting themselves into a situation that had absolutely nothing to do with them. At least one person took it upon themselves to interject themselves into a situation that really wasn’t a situation. The first item here I would point out is we should never be critical of others as we rarely know the entire story including what they’ve been through to this point. There are some people we encounter in life that find it necessary to put others down in order to elevate themselves. Such a sad situation.
Through this stretch of bad luck, there have been bright factors and it’s often important to focus on the positive. Through all of this we’ve had so many friends step up and show us that there is still good in people. Everything from helping us with hay delivery, moving hay, helping with vehicles, pulling us out of snow drifts and perhaps most importantly keeping the dream alive.
As some of you know, livestock, especially cattle have long been a passion and dream of mine. We’ve had some major setbacks that have really hit us hard here lately in trying to keep this goal alive. As many of you may realize, it’s also VERY difficult to start up a cattle operation from the ground up especially without having a generation ahead of us having local resources to give us or at least help out. Again, thanks to those that have helped with resources and most importantly encouragement in this dream is something that can actually come to fruition some day.
So, to those fighting hard to bring us down and stand in our way, you can go ahead and keep trying but don’t be surprised if we get enough of you and roll on past you if you keep trying to stand in our way.
To those that have offered help, friendship and encouragement along the way, I can’t thank you enough. It’s been a VERY rough 6 to 8 weeks or so, but YOU have been the support that keeps us going. Those TRUE friends, we thank you. Those that are FAKE friends looking only to advance yourself, go ahead and take a seat and watch where this goes!
Sorry to read this, Janssen family! I know what wonderful people you are with big hearts and amazing minds! No one can ever change that! Praying the worst is behind you and the rest of 2019 will be better!
