Shift into…Summer Mode!

Well, the Janssens have been very busy (as you can see from the length since the last post.)  It’s been a busy spring with everyone trying to finish up the school year with awards ceremonies, promotion nights, graduations, athletics, etc, etc, etc.  It just never slows down.  However, we have finally shifted into summer mode, which means things are still crazily busy, but just a different kind of busy. The great thing is it usually allows us more time together.

Early summer always brings baseball (and softball) around the Janssen household. It appears to be that annual event that creates a buzz though the entire house.  This year, just like every spring, when the weather breaks, the mad search for bats and gloves commences, and every spare moment is spent in the yard doing something with baseball.  We’ve got even more of a challenge this year in that the “big 3” are all on separate teams since they had enough girls at Jac’s age to have a coach pitch team at that level.  It means plenty of time on the road to games and practices, plenty of hot dogs and popcorn at the games, but also some great times that we’ll all remember.

This spring has not been without the usual Janssen mishaps as well. Ben somehow managed to push the screen out of a living room window and took a nose dive right out the window. He ended up with a 1 inch gash in the top of his head, and of course since it was a head wound, blead like it was an 8 inch gash. They slapped a little glue in there and all appears well now.

The “big three” were asked to be a part of the High School Spoon River Rascals production this summer. They needed a few younger bodies, so Robert, Thomas and Jaclyn gladly jumped in. Then a few weeks before performance Paula decided she needed Ben as well. So, the “big four” hit the stage again June 11, 12 and 13 at their usual venue, the Ellisville Opera House.

So, the summer has kicked off in usual fashion at the Janssen household this year. We of course would love to hear from all of you and what your family is up to this summer as well.
