We’re in the midst of summer ball again…actually nearing the end of Tom & Jac’s season. Thankfully they were on the same team again this year. Sadly, they’re the two most serious on the team, but at least they’re having fun! They’re playing coach pitch, while Rob is running with the big boys in the JH league…can you believe it, he’ll be in 6th grade!?!?! Both teams have a solid record – 0 wins…again, at least they’re all having fun & making progress with skills.
Rob is 11, Tom & Jac are 7.

Welcome Aliyah Lillian Janssen!

It’s been a very busy week around our house and it’s gone so fast. Sorry for the delay in posting this, but we’ve all been a little busy. On Tuesday, June 9th at 9:27 am, Aliyah Lillian Janssen joined our family. She weighed 9 lbs and measured in at 21 inches long. We were all so thrilled to have another girl join our family and even things out a little bit as Jaclyn would point out. Aliyah (Ali), Mom and Dad all came home Thursday afternoon and it’s been a very busy time since then. Ali has already made her appearance at the ball park attending Thomas and Jaclyn’s game on Saturday at Lewistown. She appeared to make herself right at home and handled things well (which is a great relief considering the amount of time she’ll spend at ball games over the next month!).

It’s been so much fun watching everyone adjust to the change in our lives. The most entertaining has been Ben (and we really weren’t sure how he would take it.) He has literally showered her with kisses and holding her hand frequently. He is also the first to jump to her aid the second she starts to cry. He goes toward her with arms out in the hope of helping her in some way. It’s just been such a joy to watch and enjoy.

Mr. Long Jump

Rob participated in the long-awaited 5th grade track meet between Avon & Abingdon last week. They do this once a year to introduce the kids to track. He’s looked forward to it since he watched it in kindergarten!

Rob ran the 4 x 200, but didn’t think much of it – especially since he ended up with a blister on the ball of his foot. His team got third out of 5 – not too bad, I’d say.

He also did the long jump & jump he did! Despite some inaccurate scoring by the high schoolers who were doing it, all got straightened out & our hopper won the meet with a jump of “8 ft-somethin'” – details apparently aren’t all that important to an 11-year-old once he’s heard he won.

He’s looking forward to trying out for the track team in middle school — yea, he’ll be in middle school come fall…where have the years gone??
